Tom is one of the cameo used characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants. Tom’s first appearance was Ripped Pants where he was one of the audience watchers being lifted by Larry the Lobster at the Weight-Lifting Contest. He is named after SpongeBob and Gary's actor, Tom Kenny.

Tom absolutely loves chocolate as it was proven in the episode: Chocolate With Nuts. When SpongeBob and Patrick are struggling to sell chocolate, Tom Screams "Finally!!! I have been trying to catch you too boys all day! Now that I've got you right where I want you...I would like to buy all of your chocolate..."Tom is the cameraman for the Bikini Bottom News. One of his good friends is Fred.
